Party time!

Today I managed to have a shower while the sun was out, and finally washed my hair. Hadn’t washed it since Debra’s place on Sunday night! The ‘shower’ I have to admit is not a shower, but a bucket you put water in and splash yourself with a cup that’s in the bucket. Oh and did I mention there’s zero hot water? so it’s just cold water in a bucket, that is the ‘shower’. and the toilet is a whole another story, the toilet hardly flushes, so if it doesn’t flush everything, you need to fill the bucket with water then pour it into the toilet for it to go down. And a few times the water had run out, so then there wasn’t even water to help flush it down. Fun times.

Biggest bummer of all that happened is that my Canon R7 wouldn’t turn on. I thought it was a flat battery but it just will not turn on. I think possibly it’s due to the humidity and rain over the past few days, and some moisture must have gotten in somehow. It’s now in a dry bag with a silica gel bag and fingers crossed it will be fixed. So for any of you who have any electronic equipment, please be vigilant with your stuff, unlike me. Fortunately I brought two cameras, but the second one is more for wide angle and not really great for close ups of animals (SAD FACE). (POST EDIT: It was a motherboard fault and Canon fixed it under warranty phew)

Tonight was our staff party! Debra had bought beer for everyone to have and Jaques had helped organised a campfire and seats around the campfire. I was so excited! After I’d had dinner, I went out there to join in and see what they were all up to. It was completely dark so I had no idea who anyone was. The campfire was going but it wasn’t massive and the seats they’d organised were very far away so it was quite difficult for me to get some pics.

BUT oh my goodness, what a magical little evening it was. Our driver Olivier was an excellent guitarist so he played so many great tunes that everyone sang along to. They even did that Ed Sheeran song and they sang it in English so I could join in. I didn’t know the lyrics, but the mouse lemur boys had the lyrics up on their phone so I was able to sing along! There was a lot of dancing, also some other boys tried to put their elector rap gangsta music on (ok I don’t actually know what kind of music it was) but the acoustic guitar group got mad at them hahaha but there was some dance offs and some splits happening which was hilarious to watch. I had absolutely no idea what they were talking about, but I just loved being around the fun atmosphere and seeing how the students, guides and the builders were all hanging out having a good time. I was so tired, I went to bed at like 9pm but I think the party kept going until about 11pm.
